Would it be possible to include any assigned MIDI Controller data in a given slider's existing hover?

I realize it may be practical to limit to a given subset of the data as there are obviously many types; each with their own number of properties. In my case, I'm exploring the cc automation and am seeing how the overall efficiency of the work flow would benefit from the end user having a quicker way to see what's what.

Scenario: Nothing is assigned

When we use Insert Sends then we get a latency penalty of one jackd period compared to an Aux send. This becomes audible depending on your jack period size.

There is a way to use Sidechains with Aux sends only.

Example:
We want to use Calf or LSP side chain compressor.
The snare drum shall "duck" the bass to make the snare snappier.

Snare track (with stereo instrument plugin) -> 4 channel output bus "snare" -> 2 channel master bus

Bass track (with stereo instrument plugin) -> 4 channel output bus "bass" -> 2 channel master bus

How to reproduce:

1. Enable the Dedicated MIDI control I/O feature in Options/MIDI.

2. Create a duplex MID bus. For the purpose of this thread, we'll name it CCAuto.

3. In Connections , connect Qtractor/CCAuto to Qtractor/Control on the MIDI tab.

4. Navigate back to the track view, click on a MIDI clip (create if needed) in order to select it.

Normally the clip will turn blue indicating it has been selected. This will fail until the previously mentioned MIDI connection is removed.

I get why we are setting Type to Controller as well as specifying a particular cc number (parameter) across a given MIDI channel but what do the other options mean?

Scroll wheel behavior is somewhat inconsistent inside a given mixer strip. With panning, we step in either direction + or - 1. The panning is consistent across strips of type track and buss. Cool.

Buss gain sliders move up or down 4db. That seems like a lot. Can this step value be changed to 1db? For finer control in either direction, I'd almost expect the step value to become smaller (.1) when a control key is held during the scroll. That seems to be a common UI pattern in enough wares now (though of course, I can't remember a single reference ATM).

In the sequencer, we can hold shift and use our mouse wheel to scroll horizontally. Can this be added to the mixer please?

I am one of those strange people who likes the Unity desktop, and for preference I run versions of Ubuntu Unity (which is now again an official variant of Ubuntu).

Unfortunately I have never had very much success running qtractor in this environment. It seems to crash frequently, especially if I do anything as audacious as trying to change the colour of a track or other element.

We are intrigued.

What is the best way to make an editable copy of an existing project? I want to keep the original project and be able to edit it in the future. But I also want to experiment on the copy (which will have a different name) without it affecting the original version at all.

I always seem to get in a mess when I try to do this sort of thing and my original starts complaining about missing files etc. So what is the proper way to set up the new version?
