qsynth

Although I can set gain -g4 in CLI, qsynth refuses to go beyond 2.0
Even changing /etc/default/fluidsynth has no effect.
Even starting qsynth like ..qsynth -a alsa -g3 .. has no effect.
can I change this elsewhere ?
So i have to start fluidsynth per cli .
I'm running Ubuntu 24.04

I've had to re-install MacPorts to get lilypond, frescobaldi, and qsynth. They all work except qsynth doesn't produce any sound. I've run qsynth with frescobaldi successfully previously but not on this configuration.
The system is :
Mac Studio M2 chip
OSX 15.1 Sequoia
I've configured the MIDI interace on frescobaldi such that I successfully see MIDI messages going to Qsynth and the light blinks green each time. I've got soundfonts loaded and have tried switching them with no difference.

My computer has bluetooth capability. Sound from audio sources such as Youtube is heard on my bluetooth speaker when it's connected. But sound from Qsynth only goes to the internal speakers and headphone output. How can I hear Qsynth output on my bluetooth speaker?

I'm getting messages from Qsynth as shown in the attached file and no sound. What does it mean? How do I fix it?

I've managed to get qsynth to play piano and violin from two separate engines, in two separate tracks in qtractor. But when I select the piano track, it plays the violin with it and vice versa. I had a separate midi bus for each track going out of it's own audio bus (ie, midi input 'piano' audio output 'piano') to no avail.

I need to share a download link for this file:

qsynth-0.9.4-48.1.mac-x64.dmg

The link takes me to a "Universal" file that does not work in MacOS. The above file works perfectly in all the new MacOS's. Qsynth is a superb piece of software and I would love to share it with other solutions.

Is it possible to run Qsynth on the M1 based Mac's? I haven't figured out a way so far. Any help would be appreciated.

First of all, I wanted to thank you for the great synth - it is very helpful.

I wanted to ask what SysEx message should I send to reset QSynth. I'm referring to resetting to the state just after startup. Is there such a function implemented in this program at all?

I tried many different SysEx MIDI Reset messages, but QSynth didn't respond to any of them. Generally it looks like after sending for example such message:
"F0 05 7E 7F 09 03 F7". - Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth and with the Roland keyboard working

Greetings. When I try to run qsynth-0.9.7-51.4.x86_64.AppImage, it tells me:

qsynth: error while loading shared libraries: libpulsecommon-13.0.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I'm running Mint 20.3. On my system, I have /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pulseaudio/libpulsecommon-13.99.so, so I symlinked that to libpulsecommon-13.0.so, but it still reports the same error. Is it supposed to be bundled inside the appimage?
