QmidiNet - A MIDI Network Gateway via UDP/IP Multicast

Install AppImage on Fedora

Forums

Hi, I'm totally new to Linux and I need an IPmidi replacement to make my SSL Nucleus V2 work with Reaper.
I downloaded the AllImage for QMidiNet but when I run it nothing happens.

I tried to understand the installation instructions but I don't have enough knowledge to manage it, that's why I downloaded the Appimage instead.
How do I make this work?
I use Fedora 40.

Thanks

Success story: qmidictl, qmidinet and Ardour 7

Forums

Hi,

just a very short success story:
- Install qmidictl on your smartphone/tablet
- Install qmidinet on your Linux PC
- set multicast address and port to the same value in both applications
- Connect "qmidinet out" with "Ardour MMC in" via Jack, there is no need for activating a general MIDI controller
- Start controlling Ardour with your smartphone

No gui showing up, no link made (Ubuntu)

Forums

Hello,

I am a little puzzled because when I launch qmidinet from the console, no gui is appearing, and there is no error message. I see with Qjackctl that an Alsa port is created but I am unable to send data to a second Linux box on my local network (the 2 machines are connected thru a simple Ethernet cable, without any router).

connection using static ip

Forums

Hi there,

First of all I must preface by saying I'm totally new to, err well, networking of any sort T_T
I was trying to connect my SSL Nucleus to my linux machine.
It is an MCU protocol based controller designed to work in mac/windows with ipmidi over LAN.
The user manual for the Nucleus advises to use static IP when possible, although DHCP is available.

qmidinet

Forums

First I must say I'm not very educated in the ways of midi on linux...so, my questions may be from lack of knowledge.

I wanted to set up a simple test of midi between two networked pc's.

So, for example on pc #1 run virtual midi keyboard and qmidinet. And, on pc #2 run gmidimonitor and qmidinet.

But, I see no way to connect to keyboard to qmidinet or monitor to qmidinet.

Also, does the udp address in qmidinet need to match that of the pc it is running on?
And, does the udp port need to match on the two pc's?

Regards,
Mac

note-ons working great, missing some note-offs

Forums

I have set up qmidinet between two devices, it is working quite well, except :-) A keyboard controller is plugged into a Yamaha UX16 USB-MIDI, which is then plugged into device 1; device 1 is networked to device 2; device 2 receives the MIDI events and executes them. Note-on events always seem to be caught and run. Note-offs sometimes get missed, maybe one in 10 or so. Any suggestions?
