Midi clips fade in/out

I was wondering if there is a way to make fade in/out of midi clips work over volume controller instead of note velocity. I would like to fade out long notes at the end of midi clips without drawing the volume curve each time in the midi editor. If this is possible, it will simplify a lot the work I'm doing.

Many thanks!

MIDI clip fade in/out is indeed targeting note velocities.

What you ask will be hopefully addressed by the-all-mighty-automation feature still in the sketch-board :) When there, you'll be free to design the track/channel volume curves at will ... :)

It has been said, that this year is TYOQA (the year of qtractor automation). Let there be faith it will last shorter than TYOLD (the year of linux desktop) :D

Cheers

It's great to hear that automation is under development, it's already a pleasure to use such a great sequencer as already is, I'm sure it will be even greater with this new feature!

But I still think that a fade acting on volume controller would be more useful and intuitive (IMHO).
Fading in/out would be smooth like it is for audio tracks, without changes in brightness and timbre of the instrument.

Just a side question: in the mixer, the gain meters for midi channels still relates to velocity? So it means that a note at 127 of velocity in a channel at 50% volume would result in a note at 63?

Many thanks for rhe patience.

as is, mixer volume sliders for MIDI tracks do map to CC#7 which means it does channel volume instead of affecting discrete note velocities. It has been argued whether this is the right thing to do, but as far as i'm concerned, it is so for me ;)

Is the right thing also for me, was just asking to understand better how everything works. Thanks again :)
