oops. you probably selecting each clip by point and clicking on each, individually... have you tried with some other select mode (cf. Edit/Select Mode) like range or rectangular? yes you'll have to drag-select, but that's what i was assuming from the start (sorry, it's been my preferred way, anyway :)
