well, Rewind and FFwd are, say, legacy tape-machine controls, whatever...

if you don't like them, don't use them, simple as that!

now, on a more serious approach: both have been always stopping normal playback when on; and always been resuming (normal) playback when off (or does it not? I sense that what you're telling is that is doesn't at all)

qtractor has no varispeed feature (formerly akin to ardour) so the rwd and ffwd transport commands are, as have always been, kinda blunt fake versions of it xD
