I don't like VST (because it's proprietary), but the LV2 version (which isn't a standard I like either, but in this case because of the standard itself) didn't work.
I haven't found CLAP, which is a format I like.

Regarding this "documentation"... Has anyone thought of making a plugin for Notepad? Something that has midi/audio input and output, to make it compatible with any track or bus, but that doesn't use them. It simply offers a text field to enter block notes.
It would be very useful.
