What does RT % mean?

Hi,

We are new to Jack, and are trying to understand what the RT % number means? Can anybody explain it to me? My colleague and I are using qjackctl with jacktrip, and notice that we have differing numbers here, but aren't sure what to make of it.

Thanks!

hi,
the (usually blinking) "RT" means that JACK is up and running in real-time mode;

the value in percentage "%" represents the total DSP load of all active clients running under the JACK graph: theoretically, it is the fraction to the nominal period cycle time that is being consumed by processing all the current JACK participants alone; this of course refers to the machine/node on where qjackctl/JACK service is running; different machines (connected through jacktrip) may have different workloads and thus their respective %DSP loads will vary, obviously.

hth.
cheers
