How to play/stop MIDI files?

Hello. I'm new to this forum.
I know I can use Qsynth as the output of MIDI controllers and other apps, but how do you play MIDI files directly?
I just discovered you can drag and drop, but is this the only way? And how do you stop the playback? I don't see any sort of transport controls in the interface.

as you already know, you can drag-n-drop files over qsynth's main window and start playback of MID/SMF files on the spot.
however there's no way to command or control the player after the drop--it's play to the end or nothing :)
