Using Qjackctl to connect Hydrogen drum machine to Ableton Live 8 Lite.

Forums

Hello! I have a small request for help on something I've been working on these past few days.

I want to be able to use Hydrogen as a drum machine in Ableton Live 8 Lite and connect it via Qjackctl to send the output of Hydrogen to a channel input in Ableton. I downloaded and installed Qjackctl and have the window open and ready, except that whenever I press Start, it gives me the error message:

"Could not start JACK.

Sorry."

and this code message:

rtirq - correct defintion of RTIRQ_NAME_LIST in /etc/default/rtirq ???

Forums

Hello Rui

The standard entry for RTIRQ_NAME_LIST installed with Ubuntu 14.04LTS is:

RTIRQ_NAME_LIST="rtc snd usb i8042"

KXStudio recommends:

RTIRQ_NAME_LIST=“firewire snd usb i8042”

As I am currently testing a firewire audio device whereby the ffado stream is being tripped up by unwanted xruns, would adding "firwire" to the begining of the list bring any benefit? Or is this redundant with the current kernel firewire drivers?

Also, what is the function of rtc? Do I need it? Should it have the highest priority?

Cheers, Simon

Bluetooth headphones?

Forums

Hello Everyone,

I'm using QjackCtl together with Rakarrack: I have an electric guitar connected to my PC with a (5 metre) Lindy USB guitar cable; the audio output through a pair of wired headphones. Everything works perfectly.

However, I recently bought a pair of Sony DR-BTN200 bluetooth headphones with the hope that I could listen to the audio output from Rakarrack at a distance of up to 5 metres from my PC. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to configure QjackCtl to make the bluetooth headphones the output device.

while configuring... "sanity check fails"! wow!

Forums

Hi there.
Many greatings.

I'm a newbie in linux, but I trying hard to get rid of Windows and Mac once for all.

I was having some issues while trying to configure some audio softwares to work with Jack, recently Ardour and BitWig, and decided to reinstall qjackctl. But while I was following the instructions of the INSTALL file, in the package, I got an error. This one: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

Yep. I had do idea my PC was insane.

I'm sending the config.log attached.

bug: QJackctl UI disappears

Forums

UI disappears:
===========
- open Qjackctl
- go to Options panel
- enter "a2jmidid -e" in "Execute script after Startup"
- tick box next to "Execute script after Startup"
Save settings
- start Jack
- open Patchage or Ardour2
- UI for QJackctl goes blank & can't click on any buttons in UI
- only way to get UI back is to shut down all apps and start again

alternately:
===========
repeat procedure WITHOUT entering "a2jmidid -e" command in "Execute script after Startup" field
and do not tick box
UI does NOT go blank

jack qjackctl won't obey settings

Forums

Hi
I installed qjackctl 3.9 from my distro ubuntu 13.04 64bits and want to use a Korg's Pandora PX5D as usb audio card.
When I use the embedded sound card with mplayer -ao jack somefile.wav I can ear the sound in headphone plugged in the analog output of the box: ok.
Now I want to use another application that requires Jack and sampling rate set to 48kHz.
When I select the korg's box i/o devices in qjackctl settings hw:1,0 along with 48k samplerate, then I start Jack, the main qjackctl windows displays 44100Hz but the messages window shows 48k

Install problem

Forums

Thank you for this fantastic software! I'm on MacOS and have used QjackCtl for several years, after finding a binary someone had posted. But recently I had to compile it again on a new computer and have a problem. The ./configure command seems to run fine but the make command produces this error below. Is it looking for a file that is not there? Any suggestions? Thanks!

[... the ./configure command text ends with this:]

Now type 'make', followed by 'make install' as root.

Hardware latency settings passing to jackd

Forums

Hello,

I've spent some time trying to calibrate latency settings in my recording system, and I finally found out that the problem is somewhere in the qjackctl area. I wrote up my adventure and it's available on the web, but Drupal won't let me paste in the link. The short version is:

Ubuntu 13.10 (fresh install)
qjackctl 0.3.10
Ardour 2.8.14
