Hi I have a question re qjackctl-0.4.0. Apparently I got that version o qjackctl just now through updating my apps packages in synaptic.

I am running kxstudio.

I sometimes use qjackctl, because (up until this version) it correctly knows how to use virtual sound devices defined in /etc/asound.conf. Ie in my asound.conf I have a virtual sound device configured, comprising two 8-port PCI sound devices.

With this new version of qjackctl that no longer seems possible Humørikonet frown

I'd like to help out fixing that problem, so I'm downloading qjackctl source code.

Running "aplay -L" (lists physical and virtual sound cards), I get the following output:
null
Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)
pulse
PulseAudio Sound Server
multi_capture
multi_playback
default
jack
sysdefault:CARD=DSP24
Hoontech SoundTrack Audio DSP24, ICE1712 multi
Default Audio Device
[...]

Running "aplay -l" (lists only physical sound cards) I get:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: DSP24 [Hoontech SoundTrack Audio DSP24], device 0: ICE1712 multi [ICE1712 multi]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: DSP24 [Hoontech SoundTrack Audio DSP24], device 1: ICE1712 consumer [ICE1712 consumer]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
[...]

What I need to be able to is to use the same devices as "aplay -L" shows, not just "aplay -l".

If there's a better forum to discuss this, I'll be happy to switch... thanks in advance
