In the end:
I have not used the Material icons (except for some loose ones).
Nor have I respected the grid.
Nor do the icons work for light and dark themes.
I have limited myself to making them as legible and understandable as possible according to the Tecnico theme's colors.
Designing with a grid is something that remains pending, but I think that (despite not using an exact pixel grid) I have achieved acceptable legibility.
