hi, the difference between "Mono" and "Poly" modes, is exactly as you say, you're not missing anything!

but perhaps it would be interesting to read a few pages back in comments here, specially the infamous rule 4. which stands for the "Poly" mode and is simply overruled on the "Mono" mode.
