ZynAddSubFX DSSI Plugin empty window

Forums

Hi everyone

I can't get any DSSI host to load ZASF with the interface, allowing me to load instruments and activate effects, etc.

When I try

⚡ ghostess /usr/lib/dssi/libzynaddsubfx_dssi.so

I do get a ZASF window, but only with a "preset" and "bank" menus that does nothing. Pressing "test note" does sound a simple sine wave sound.

In Qtractor, the "ZynAddSubFX" in the plugin/dssi window is listed as having no GUI :( and, indeed, when instanciated, it is just a "ZynAddSubFX" window and the only available control is "activate" :(

So I'm trying to understand how the dssi plugin works

Here is my dssi directory

⚡ ll /usr/lib/dssi
total 3,7M
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4,0K sept. 24 10:50 .
drwxr-xr-x 182 root root 20K sept. 24 10:21 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K sept. 23 19:42 hexter
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4,0K sept. 23 19:42 xsynth-dssi
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 145K oct. 22 2013 hexter.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3,4M sept. 24 10:38 libzynaddsubfx_dssi.so
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 138K mai 2 2011 xsynth-dssi.so

And in the hexter and xsynth-dssi subdirs are corresponding executables..! I tried putting the zynadsubfx exe here, but no luck...

Questions:
- Is the .so alone enough to run a full ZASF plugin instance?
- If not (I'm guessing not) where should I put the main executable?

NOTE: I'm using the latest SVN 0.6.3 qtractor, and the latest ZASF 2.4.4 source from SF (not git, the main download, as the git one won't build).
NOTE2: Pretty much the same experience when using the "zynadd" Ubuntu package.

allow me to ask:

- did zasfx-dssi ever worked for you?

i wonder why you don't try the falktx/kxstudio/disthro's LV2 version instead? i've been told (and tried once or twice) that it's a lot better experience in so many ways ;)

cheers

Hey, I tried again (using this procedure)

⚡ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kxstudio-debian/kxstudio
⚡ sudo apt-get update
⚡ sudo apt-get install kxstudio-repos
⚡ sudo apt-get update
⚡ sudo apt install carla-plugins-lv2

And YAY I got it!! THANKS!!
