Automation

Forums

Hi. I would like to know how to draw automation curves for plugin parameters. For example there is some filter plugin added to track. It shows up in automation menu list, and I see all controls (cutoff, gain..), but I'm not able to mark these and automation curve is not added. The same problem is for MIDI and audio tracks. What am i doing wrong? Thanks for reply.

point to the track's [A] button or Track/Automation menu, you should be able to select the plugin parameter for automation; the selected menu item icon should turn gray into black; you can also make this selection over the plugin generic dialog and right-click over the target plugin parameter slider and check Automation option if not already.

once selected, a flat (red) line should be shown on the track view area. to start adding automation control points you 'll have to check on Edit/Select Mode/Automation menu option or turn the little white arrow button on the main tool-bar.

automation curve control points are added with simple left-clicking and can be drag-and-moved around the track view area; use ctrl+ or shift+left-click to remove a control node under the mouse pointer.

tell me what you're missing.

cheers

It works! There is "Direct Access" menu in plugin parameters. This thing was what i missed.
BTW, this is the best and greatest sequencer for Linux. Thanks.

This was very helpful. I tried the automation piece for the first time last night. How can you deselect a menu item icon in the automation menu. I clicked 'Monitor' (is this the same as volume fades) but when I wanted to turn it off, I clicked it again and couldn't deselect it.

Thanks,

Omar

How can you deselect a menu item icon in the automation menu.
maybe the term "select" is a misnomer. there's maybe only one way to reset an automation curve and that is to Automation/Clear it.
