Pianoteq has a linuxVST, but the default version does not seem to work with Qtractor because it has 5 audio output channels and I don't think Qtractor likes that. However, you can set up the plugin for 2 channel output by renaming the plugin with "_2chan" added to the name (e.g.
Pianoteq.so -> Pianoteq_2chan.so). Then the plugin works in Qtractor. Thanks for the great application. I'm using Qtractor 0.5.1.
Minor button issue
I love qtractor and qsampler but its hard to tell when a button is pressed (e.g. the mute button on a qsampler channel). On my system (AVLinux) the button only changes color slightly and I have to stare at it awhile to decide if it is pressed or not. I'd much appreciate some more dramatic color change to indicate a button is pressed. Thanks.
Opps, this was supposed to be a separate topic, but it cannot be deleted, so I'll just leave it here.
Re: Minor button issue
try using a different qt4 theme style, like one of my favorites:
qtractor -style plastique
the usual gtk+ style on most popular distros is a too crippling to my tastes :) and it also has some annoying side-effects (aka. bugs), like all midi input freezsing while on a file open/save requester dialog) ...
cheers
Re: Minor button issue
Thanks for the tip, it is a great improvement. It would be good if plastique were the default, but maybe default style is determined by the window manager (?).
Re: Pianoteq linuxVST + Qtractor
awe, renaming the plugin with "_2chan" sounds like a damn kludge o.O iirc pianoteq worked only when set to monophonic output mode. the filename renaming is a complete novelty to me. where did you got that information? is it documented somewhere?
cheers && thanks
Re: Pianoteq linuxVST + Qtractor
I agree the file renaming method seems completely bizarre but it does seem to work. The information is not documented anywhere. I got it by posting a question on the Pianoteq forum about whether one could set the number of outputs to 2. I was answered by a PT employee, I assume, who told me about the renaming and said it was an undocumented and unsupported feature.
