smooth tempo change

Is there any way to change tempo linearly from, let say, 120 bpm to 100 bpm? It seems to me it's possible to set a precise tempo value only at the beginning of a measure, is it right?

right.

yes, tempo changes can only happen at the beginning of a measure, so called, bar.

tempo ramps, as you might call it, are just not supported. sorry.
