Dear Rui,
on my system qtractor's (svn 2390) tooltipps are hard to read because the letters are light grey and the background is chamois. From the menu "View" checking/unchecking "Tool Tipps" doesn't have any effect.

sorry, all colors, tooltips included, are given by the color theme in use. that's usually a global setting that you shall look after on system settings if you're using kde, or check if
qtconfigcan help you tweak the color palette that shall be applicable to all qt4 applications.cheers

of course you are correct, please excuse my nuisance. I changed the desktop theme, but did not change the qtconfig settings.
