On white keys, only the right half of the row is highlighted, the left half that's closer to the keys is omitted. Whereas on black keys it works as intended:

re. bizarre highlighting behavior on white keys
is it just me or my eyes or I can't see where the said bizarity is...
maybe you can visually annotate where it is exactly, a red marker? because to my eyes I do see the whole row being highlighted--full width--on the white keys.
maybe I need to change glasses? :)

re: is it just me or my eyes
either one of us is missing something? can't you see it is uh, highlighted all the way from left to right?
I do, maybe you're being fooled by the slight shade to the right that marks the "outer bounds" of the clip ?
don't take it personal, but maybe we're not having the uh, same color sensitivity, perhaps?
re: either one of us is missing something?

No it's not. And I think it isn't merely my impression. Well, maybe my monitor is partially to blame for exaggerating it, but an abrupt change in color is clearly noticeable, I can precisely point out where it happens and show left and right parts' color difference that's objectively present there.
re. highlighted all the way from left to right
yes it is :)
I am worried to say it again, but the "abrupt" difference you see between the left and right sides is exactly because the latter (ie. right area) is outside the clip range and thus gets the whole area slightly grayed out as to mark just that: clip off-limits.
so sorry to tell, it's all behaving as always intended :)
cheers
re: I am worried to say it again
Then perhaps make left area highlighting a bit brighter, because on my monitor it's almost invisible and their color difference is more noticeable.
Now I kind of understand what you meant
so, I had to tinker with my monitor in order to see highlighting the way you saw it :)) indeed, with different contrast settings it's more visible, but I suppose on monitors with higher contrast it still may confuse some users
I guess "make it brighter" was a wrong suggestion :-) maybe more visible with higher contrast
re. monitor tinkering
glad you made it through!
merry x-mas!
hah, thx
