I'm not a fucking scientist and now this program has stopped working. Please help me. I just want to write my music and I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS.
I can't even get the god damn software to work. What has happened with these updates? I have not been around for a couple years so I may have missed something. I run Ubuntu. When I press play I see MUTE in yellow highlighted words at the bottom right of the screen, but I have not muted anything!

can you show us what's not working? is the program not starting at all? crashes vanishes at some point? doesn't reproduce any sound? what exactly?
at least you say that you see the yellow MUTE on the bottom status bar... however that's perfectly normal when you have at least one track is muted (the "M" button is pressed; on some widget themes or style, that button is also painted yellow, but on some desktop systems it's just shows as pressed without any other color clue but some slight shade).
can you give us more information and details on what's (not) going on there?
