clip controller issues
Hi Rui,
we are trying to copy some controller values from one clip to another.
situation is like this:
- we copy controller 15 values from one clip and want to paste that into a new clip
This is what we do:
- we create a new Track
- we create, on that Track, a new Clip
- we paste CC15 in that particular clip
- save the clip from within the Clip Editor
- close the clip
But:
- there is no clip to be seen in the arrangement window!
- but a clip is available in the Files window?
- so we drag the Track 1 from our new clip from the Files window into the arrangement window
But:
- only a very small line of 1 pixel wide or something like that is being put into the Track where we want to place our clip
Now, we can drag the line until it meets the length of the old clip to see all the CCs again.
We do not understand why there is not simply a clip created with the length of the controller 15 values - instead we see a very thin line which we have to drag.
Is this normal behavior?

all that is normal behavior i'm afraid: as a matter of fact, a MIDI clip must have at least one note event to let it be seen on the main track view.
EDIT: scrap that, that is simply not true: you can have MIDI clips with non-note data alright. though they are shown just blank or empty on the main track view. however, the behavior you report, on the null-length and emptyness of the new clip is quite strange, as i just tried to reproduce and it just makes it wide enough to accomodate all the CC events in it (but show as a blank clip).
may i ask which qtractor version are you into?

thanks for trying to reproduce our findings, but today i tried again and there were no problems at all with creating a new clip and pasting only CCs in them. The clip looks as we expect now and we can go on learning QTractor as we go. We still have a lot of learning to do, i'm afraid :)

maybe you overlooked the "save the clip from within the Clip Editor" step and grabbed the track item from the Files pane, before it was actually materialized on the file-system?
