About the plugin idea, wouldn't that just provide the same opportunity that already exists with the File/Properties/Description filed? If what you mean is, something DAW-agnostic, the closest I've seen to what you've described ships with Carla... maybe it's called notes or something... I can't remember. It's exactly what you said, just a blob of text. The problem is it's baked into Carla itself and therefore, not accessible outside of that app. That said, using a plugin to scratch this particular itch kinda feels like a chicken/egg scenario.
