This MIDI thing is really complex, and your answer has made me understand it a little better.

In the end I think there will be a "how to".
I find it annoying to have to use external applications, but in the end it is not that complicated, you just have to remember to launch QMidiRoute before Qtractor, and the connections will be reestablished as if it were an internal plugin.

I will continue experimenting and when I have a mature workflow I will make some musical themes with intensive automations. It has always been a pending task for me to exploit automation as a creative tool.

So if everything goes my way, there will be a How To next year.
