you may stretch any audio clip with shift+click-drag either one of the clip edges;
one other way is in Clip > Properties... > Audio > Time-stretch (in percentage).

This is because I don't know how to compile the file, and the app image doesn't seem stable to me.

dunno about the general distro repos but you may want to know about the upstream snapshots repos (see above).

If you are on an Ubuntu base system then look into adding one (and only one) of the "Applications" PPA's, from https://launchpad.net/~rncbc
Instructions are there for you to follow wrt .add-apt-repository ...

I use AVlinux, based on MX
