Persistent Mixer Window?

Hi! Regardless of enabling the "always on top" option, the mixer window hides itself whenever I access a track plugin. For example, I open a parametric EQ, and when I click on it, the mixer window disappears. I need to be able to sweep the frequencies on the EQ while I monitor the gain levels. I'm on Ubuntu Studio, if that helps.

Is this a WM (window manager) issue or should I change something else in Qtractor?

Thanks!
HIji

yes,

probably is a WM issue, specially KDE where there's this option setting of "hide utility windows when inactive" on by default.

hth.
cheers

I swear you're a genius, man! :) You figured it out. I AM on KDE. For others on Ubuntu Studio (or KDE) that find this thread, this fix is this: 1) Go to Settings > System Settings > Window Management > Window Behavior > Advanced > UNCHECK "Special Behavior: Hide utility window for inactive applications” > Apply.

Thank you!

Yes, over here on mxlinux with kde did experience the same behaviour HIJI explains.
Very usefull to see RNCBC's reaction and HIJI's followed up short explanation to solve this issue !!
Like kde, love qtractor, thanks for this secret power user tip :-)

I tried KDE a few times in the past - REALLY broken. I wouldn't use it if I had serious work to do. Mind you, I wouldn't use Linux at all if I had any serious paid work to do lol Functionality is sketchy at best. It's not a serious tool you can rely on.

You can't even hold GNU coders to task because they freely relinquished all responsibility they have to the code they write under the license. A fantastic way to get bad code that nobody needs to own up to. Quality control at it's best ffs

I'm going back to using old Windows for recording on. Modern software and OSes are too much of a liability and seem to slow productivity more than they help.

Windows or MacOS (same thing really) seems like the right fit for you indeed.
