Hi,
I have installed QTractor via the KXStudio repos.
I create a track, then insert a plugin via the mixer. When I click "Edit" to load/show the plugin (in my case "Calf Fluidsynth") QTractor crashes.
I don't know where to find the logs, but this is what the Jack logs show:

QTr About box
Shows: "LV2 Plug-in UI GTK2 native support disabled." Is this the problem? How to enable it?
re. QTractor 0.80 crash when edit Calf plugins
hi Staffan,
can't say if that might help you in any way, but check whether switching the View > Options... > Display > Style theme to anything else than default or gtk2 might help.
also check and read the whole of this linuxmusicians.com forum thread. there you may find some hints, at least better than the ones from a non-debian fellow like me (i now see that you already posted there the very same same question as here, so i wonder whether you overlooked one or the other).
re. [Qtr About box] LV2 Plug-in UI GTK2 native support disabled
depending on which libSUIL version you have installed, this might not be an issue.
though, to have LV2 Plug-in UI GTK2 native support enabled, you must build qtractor with libgtk2.0-dev and all the dependencies installed. you can try yourself, to build qtractor from source, and if things seems to behave differently (for the better, if that matters:) you can ask the kxstudio team to remake the kx package with that option enabled. that might be an interesting proposition to do later.
but again, i'm not sure what's wrong, on either side of the crash line :)
hth.
cheers
Thanks a lot, I think I will
Thanks a lot, I think I will try to compile QTractor from source. It is such an awesome application that I really want to use for my music production.
Which OS do you recommend/are you using?

re. Which OS do you recommend/are you using?
thanks.
you can stay on debian/kxstudio alright. no problem at all about that. please confirm first whether using a non-gtk2 style theme is a solution, before thinking anything else.
fwiw. i'm on openSUSE Tumbleweed.

Trust the source! :)

Although now I have another problem. When I create a new clip using menu item Clip, I am presented with the Session dialog. If I click the file selection button (to change the directory), QTractor hangs.

re. can't find a theme where it works...
let's try switching View > Options... > Display > Use desktop environment native dialogs : OFF.

I switched that off a long time ago! :)
And now I have tried it ON.
And now I have tried it ON. It's strange, because I can select a directory/folder when loading SF2s into Calf Fluidsynth.
re. And now I have tried it ON.
let me assert that, the "Use desktop environment native dialogs" options applies to qtractor only and does not affect in any way how plugins, any plugin, calls and runs their own file-requester dialogs, whether they're native from DE or else.
cheers

QTractor and Calf PlugIns
Oscillator, I compiled just now the latest versions of qtractor and calf for 64 bit (X)Ubuntu 14.04 and Qt4 which work rock solid on my system - even the midi files sound superior ;-)
Deinstall your versions, delete all config files (use e.g. catfish to find them) and try these from "http://www.stockinger.org/musik.html" - maybe it helps to find out what is going wrong.
Rui, you recently repaired a bug concerning the resizing of windows. Thank you so much, I thought it to be an qt4 issue so didn't dare to tell you.
Greetings, Michael
Thanks Michael, your version
Thanks Michael, your version works like a charm!
I can load and edit Calf Fluidsynth, and the app doesn't hang om the system/Save Session dialog.
Many thanks!
