Feature Idea? Keybind to navigate track -> strip -> bus

Given the recently added feature to visually link a selected track's corresponding mixer strip and audio bus, I think it would be really nice to add a keybinding allowing the user to navigate forward through the members of the group. In the interest of simplicity, it would operate in a single direction only which shouldn't be a problem since we're only talking about 3 objects at most. Also, it would wrap around. Assuming the user were to map this to Tab, the experience would look something like this:

  1. Using the rodent, click on (or works in) a particular track.
  2. Hit mapping to focus on the corresponding mixer strip.
  3. Hit mapping again to focus on the corresponding audio bus.
  4. Hit mapping again to focus on the corresponding track.

As I wrote this, I started to wonder if the mouse pointer would actually follow the focus in this pretend scenario. Maybe not.... if it would not, then I guess this capability wouldn't really add much since we'd still be "chasing" the focus with the pointer in order to do any real work.

Figured it was worth hearing any thoughts though.

kinda not understanding it in full but, if thinking about it correctly:

we all know that tracks may only target one and only one bus, maybe two output buses, one MIDI and one audio output bus, provided it's a MIDI instrument track we're dealing with.

now, the reverse mapping of bus-to-tracks, is kinda mess, one-to-none-or-many... how is it supposed to navigate in this "many" regard? it would need an ordered reverse map for sure, and the maintenance it ensues... bah! i'd say it's not worth the effort, this time at least.

my personal thought alone; patches to address the feature are and will be surely welcome, anytime and always!

cheers

Yea, this was a terrible idea on my part and really just a hack thought/work-around for a coloring issue involving the selected mixer strips. I've solved it another (equally as bad) way.
